Best Secrets to Keeping Off Weight that is Lost
In the January 2012 Tufts University & Nutrition Letter the editors share new research from the National Weight Control Registry from 3,000 men and women who have kept off an average of 51 pounds (from a loss of 69 pounds) for at least 10 years. Those who had this remarkable success were doing the following strategies: eating breakfast regularly, walking about an hour a day, weighing themselves weekly, counting calories and fat grams or using commercial weight loss software to track intake, limiting eating out to an average of 3 times a week including all meals, consuming fast food less than once a week, eating more similar foods, no splurging on the holidays and special occasions and watching less than 10 hours of TV a week. The successful 'losers' averaged about 1,800 calories a day, with less than 30% of those calories from fats.
